Jan Myrdal came in Punjab and interacted with Intellectuals

 

"The Political organization has the Central Role in Raising the Consciousness of People"

In America, and especially in Europe, the class consciousness of people has taken a downturn and this is the cause for domination of bourgeois ideology and in orgainsing public opinion for unjust imperialist wars. That is why there is no strong opposition to these wars and aggressions among the people of imperialist countries.”

This was stated by Jan Myrdal, a famous Marxist thinker and literary figure, in a heavily attended program in Punjabi Bhavan in Ludhiana which was held  under the chairmanship of Prof. AK Maleri, Prof. Jagmohan Singh, Satnam, Prof. Ajmer Aulakh and Gautam Navlakha. He was introduced by Prof. Jagmohan Singh to the audience as an anti-imperialist activist and literary authority known throughout the world. In his key-note address Myrdal said that the imperialist wars have assumed an important role in the world due to weakened working class movement. He stressed that the people do not gain political consciousness spontaneously rather it is imparted by the political organization of the working class. He said that the Nazis had achieved success in elections by corrupting the consciousness of their people promising them gains in the loot of Europe. The genocides being carried out by the imperialist USA is not a new thing and one should remember that it is built on the mass scale extermination of the Red Indians.  It attacks other countries to control them but is careful to not destroy their oil resources and installations and instead destroys their cultural heritages, history and civilasations. Quoting Mao Zedong he said that though the US imperialism is a paper tiger but it has a great capability of inflicting heavy casualities and destruction to maintain its imperialist grip on the people of the world. In spite of great changes in the world system the plunder of wage labour still holds the key to imperialist exploitation though the mental labour has assumed huge proportions. The developing of the war machine has always been an important aspect of imperialism. The struggles like “occupy Wall Street” are important but the they lack the required political perspective and direction as the political organization which can lead the people to victory is not present. He said that the imperialists have succeeded in splitting up the people of Syria, Iraq and other Arab countries on religious and sectarian lines thus sidetracking the struggles of the people and pitching them one against the other. While answering the questions of the audience he stressed that it is duty of the movements in various countries to enact change in the system in accordance with the objective situation prevailing in respective countries and no single center can lead the movements in various countries. While briefing on his meetings with Mao Zedong he said that he was a genius who could creatively apply Marxist theory according to the social conditions and history of China. Gautam Navlakha translated his speech and his answers to the questions raised by the listeners.

Gautam Navlakha also dwelt on the situation prevailing in the field of democratic rights. He explained on the current war going on against the people in the name of Green Hunt and called on the audience to understand that it is not a war to establish peace by destroying the Maoist violence as the rulers call it but its real mission is to open up the huge natural resources of the country for the plunder of the corporate houses. He said that the war against the people has been going on for the last six decades in various regions like Kashmir, North-East, etc and Operation Green Hunt is its current avatar crusading against the tribal heartland of India. The rulers are extensively oppressing the people through black laws such as sedition and UAPA.

A new book by Jan Myrdal “the Red Star Over India” was also released. Many prominent personalities, like Darshan Khatkar, Kawaljit Khanna, Narbhinder, Balwant Makhu, Sardara Singh Mahal, Amolak Singh, Sukhdarshan Natt Balbir Parwana  and many journalists and others like Dr. Darshanpal, Col. A S Brar, and many literary and progressive persons, trade union leaders and activists from the revolutionary and democratic movement participated.

ਲੋਕ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਹਿਮ : ਜਾਨ ਮਿਰਡਲ

 
‘‘ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਯੂਰਪ ਵਿਚ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉ¤ਥੇ ਬੁਰਜ਼ੂਆ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਦਾ ਗ਼ਲਬਾ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਨਹੱਕੀਆਂ ਜੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ’ਚ ਲੋਕ ਰਾਇ ਬਨਣ ’ਚ ਮਦਦ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉ¤ਥੇ ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਜੰਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਸਰਦਾਰ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ।’’
ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਅੱਜ ਇਥੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਵਨ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖਚਾਖਚ ਭਰੇ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਚ ‘‘ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਜਮਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਜੰਗ ਵਿਸ਼ ੇ ਬਾਰੇ  ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਏ ਕੇ. ਮਲੇਰੀ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਜਗਮੋਹਣ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਤਨਾਮ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਅਜਮੇਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਔਲੱਖ, ਗੌਤਮ ਨਵਲੱਖਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਹੇਠ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਮਾਰਕਸੀ ਚਿੰਤਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਮਿਰਡਲ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ। ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਜਗਮੋਹਣ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਲੋਂ ਜਾਨ ਮਿਰਡਲ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਾਈ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਿਰਡਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁੰਜੀਵਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਪੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ’ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਕੁਲ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ’ਚ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਜਮਾਤ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਜੰਗਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਖ਼ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦੀ ਆਗੂ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ’ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਨਤਾ ’ਚ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਖ਼ੁਦ-ਬ-ਖ਼ੁਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦੀ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾਕੁੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਵਜਾ• ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾਜ਼ੀਵਾਦੀ ਹੁਕਮਰਾਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਹਿਮ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਰਪ ਦੀ ਲੁੱਟ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਪਾਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ’ਚ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਨਸਲਘਾਤ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕਤਾ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੋਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਬਲਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਰੈ¤ਡ ਇੰਡੀਅਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ’ਚ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਚਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉ¤ਥੇ ਤੇਲ ਦੀ ਹਿਫਾਜ਼ਤ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਲਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਸੱਭਿਅਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਜਾੜਨ ਦੀ ਖੁੱਲ• ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਓ ਦੇ ਕਥਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਕਾਗਜ਼ੀ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਉ¤ਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਧਾੜਵੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਜਕੜ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਅਮਲ ’ਚ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦੀ ਭਾਰੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ’ਚ ਅਹਿਮ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਜਿਸਮਾਨੀ ਕਿਰਤ ਦੀ ਲੁੱਟ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲੂ ਹਾਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਵੀ ਅਹਿਮ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਕਿਰਤ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਧੀ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗੀ ਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਜਮਾਂਦਰੂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉੁਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ’ਚ ਜੋ ‘ਵਾਲ ਸਟਰੀਟ ’ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰੋ’ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਹਿਮ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਧ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਥੇਬੰਦ ਰੂਪ ਦੇਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁਕਾਮ ’ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਗੂ ਤਾਕਤ ਦੀ ਅਣਹੋਂਦ ਹੈ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਸੀਰੀਆ, ਇਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਖਾੜੀ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮਜ਼•ਬੀ ਤੇ ਫਿਰਕੂ ਟਕਰਾਵਾਂ ’ਚ ਬਦਲਕੇ ਇਨ•ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੀਹੋਂ ਲਾਹੁਣ ’ਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਹਾਲਾਤਾਂ ’ਚੋਂ ਉ¤ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਕਲੂ ਸੂਝ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਲਾਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਕੜ ’ਤੇ ਮੁਨੱਸਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ। ਮਾਓ ਜ਼ੇ ਤੁੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਭਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਚੋੜ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਾਓ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਕਸਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਸਮਾਜ ਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਰੂਪ ’ਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਏ ਗੌਤਮ ਨਵਲੱਖਾ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ। ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਛੇ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਚਲਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਜੰਗ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਓਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਗ੍ਰੀਨ ਹੰਟ ਦੇ ਲੁਕਵੇਂ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਤੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜੰਗ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਅਮੀਰ ਵਸੀਲੇ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਟ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਣ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਹੈ ਨਾਕਿ ਅਖੌਤੀ ਮਾਓਵਾਦੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਰਾਨ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਰਾਜਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਲੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੈਮਾਨੇ ’ਤੇ ਕੁਚਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਮਾਓਵਾਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਿਰਡਲ ਦੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਕਿਤਾਬ ‘ਰੈ¤ਡ ਸਟਾਰ ਓਵਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ’ ਲੋਕ ਅਰਪਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਡਾ. ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸੀ ਪੀ ਆਈ ਐ¤ਮ ਐ¤ਲ ਦੇ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਕਾ. ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਖਟਕੜ, ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਸਰਦਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਹਲ, ਕਰਮ ਬਰਸਟ, ਬਲਵੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਪਾਲ, ਕਰਨਲ ਏ ਐ¤ਸ ਬਰਾੜ, ਨਰਭਿੰਦਰ, ਅਮੋਲਕ ਸਿੰਘ, ਕਮਲਜੀਤ ਖੰਨਾ, ਬਲਵੰਤ ਮਖੂ, ਸੁਖਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨੱਤ, ਬਾਰੂ ਸਤਵਰਗ, ਬੂਟਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਮੇਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਇਨਕਲਾਬੀ ਆਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ, ਕਿਸਾਨ, ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਆਗੂ ਤੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਕਾਰਕੁੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਕਾਮੇ ਤੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ’ਚ ਮਤੇ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਰਾਜਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਲੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਸੋਨੀ ਸੋਰੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਆਦਿਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਮੂ ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ’ਚ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮੈਡਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਪੁਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਜੇ ਕਾਕ ਦੀ ਫਿਲਮ ‘‘ਜਸ਼ਨੇ-ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ’’ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜਸੀ ਗੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਫਾਸ਼ੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
